Technology Comparison
React vs Vue.js
React and Vue solve the same problem with two different philosophies. React is a library that leaves almost everything open: JSX, hooks, and from there you decide routing, global state and styling. Vue is a progressive framework with official options for those pieces — Vue Router, Pinia — and a template syntax that separates markup, logic and styles in one file. The underlying technical difference is reactivity: React re-runs the component and compares, while Vue tracks which dependencies changed and updates only those.
Comparison
Head-to-head comparison
| Criteria | React | Vue.js |
|---|---|---|
| Reactivity model | Re-render and diff: optimised by hand with memo and useMemo | Dependency tracking: only what changed updates |
| Syntax | JSX: the view is JavaScript, with all its power and noise | Templates: markup, logic and style separated in one file |
| Decisions to make | Many: routing, state and styling chosen project by project | Few: there is an official option for almost everything |
| Hiring market | Very wide: it is the default in most job listings | Smaller in Spain, though solid and growing |
| Learning curve | Medium: hooks have rules that must be internalised | Low: anyone who knows HTML and CSS is productive in days |
| Server rendering | Via Next.js, the de facto standard of the ecosystem | Via Nuxt, equivalent and with the same official integration |

Decisión Guide
When to choose each option
- 01/Choose
React
Choose React if you are hiring and want the widest market, if the project needs to share code with a React Native app, or if you depend on niche libraries that almost always ship for React first. Also if the team already knows it: Vue's technical edge does not justify relearning.
- 02/Choose
Vue.js
Choose Vue if the team comes from design or backend and you want fast productivity, if you prefer an official way of doing things over deciding each piece, or if performance matters and you would rather not fight manual memoisation.
BePand
Our recommendation
Both are correct choices and this comparison is rarely decided by the technology: it is decided by the team. With people who already know React, choosing Vue for its reactivity trades a small technical edge for months of learning curve. At BePand we work with Angular for its structure and strict typing, but we maintain React projects and the honest recommendation is the same: pick what your team can still maintain in three years.

Frequently asked questions about React vs Vue.js
Which is better for SEO, React or Vue?
Neither is, on its own: an app that renders only in the browser hands the crawler an empty HTML in both cases. What decides it is server rendering, and there Next.js for React and Nuxt for Vue offer practically the same. The framework choice does not change the SEO outcome; the rendering choice does.
Does Vue have a future against React?
Yes. Vue 3 is mature, has stable funding and an active community, and its share is solid in Europe and very high in Asia. The real risk of a Vue project is not the framework disappearing, it is finding experienced profiles in the local market, which in Spain is narrower than React's.
Can you migrate from React to Vue?
You can, but it means rewriting the entire view layer: components, state and routing do not translate. What survives is framework-independent logic — API calls, validation, types — if it was properly separated. If that logic lives inside the components, the migration is effectively a new project.
